Neither Sixt nor Enterprise/Alamo has a desk at the port in Corsica: they are at the airports. If you arrive by boat, plan to get to the airport or the city centre.
Collected on 28/09/2026 from official branch pages. Avis mentions an "Ajaccio branch", but our research hasn't established where it is. Hertz has a franchisee in Corsica (Filippi Auto), whose desk address in Ajaccio hasn't been established either.
What the desk asks for
This is where holidays go wrong: a card refused, a deposit too high. Here are the rules each rental company has written for the region, or for France when it has no specific ones.
It depends on the rental company. Enterprise and Alamo (run in Ajaccio by Corse Auto Rent) require one: debit cards refused, Apple Pay and Google Pay too. Hertz Corse and Sixt accept a debit card, except Electron, Maestro, Nickel, prepaid and virtual cards; Sixt asks for the PIN. ADA "generally" refuses it. At Europcar and Avis/Budget, the company's own documents contradict each other. Checked on 28/09/2026 from their official terms.

Corsica special
In Corsica, Sixt and Enterprise/Alamo are at the airports of Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi and Figari, not at the ports. When you get off the ferry, you have to get to them.
Sixt allows the crossing. Europcar forbids it. Hertz Corse wants the car returned on the island.
Hertz, Enterprise and Alamo are run here by Corsican companies. Their card and deposit rules are not the same as on the mainland.
The word DEBIT or CREDIT is usually printed on it. The deposit counts towards your card limit: your bank can raise it for a few days.
